Legacy Application Bridge Project - Perfect Use for webMethods

I received a new project over the last few weeks that is very interesting to me.

My current customer uses a Visual Basic Application over a secure WAN to award contracts to vendors. With the recent upgrade to the Financials system, the APIs used by this VB application no longer exist.

So, enter webMethods:

We will translate the output of the VB application into a canonical and then use a custom adapter to communicate with the financials system. The adapter will return data based on the request or return error messages.

To top it off, we are planning to tentatively use web services to make the new API accessible to the VB application.

Go webMethods!
